What We Do

Pegasus Health (Charitable) Ltd is a charitable company that supports 109 practices within the Christchurch and Canterbury area in delivering quality care to over 365,000 enrolled patients. The Pegasus community includes 330 member GPs, 355 practice nurses, and nearly 400 support staff as well as other community providers. Pegasus Health is an organisation that supports many aspects of health and wellbeing in Canterbury.

Pegasus Health general practice teams had approximately 1.6 million contacts with patients in 2011. Every contact offers an opportunity to make a difference, not only in the life of that one person, but through them, to the entire family, whānau, neighbourhood and wider community.

Pegasus Health delivers primary health organisation (PHO) services to its enrolled population. We design and deliver services directly to patients, for example, through our 24 Hour Surgery, Partnership Community Workers (PCWs), Community Respiratory, child health and mental health services. Pegasus Health (Charitable) Limited contracts for the provision of an extensive range of health services with funders. In addition we have two separate membership companies for general practitioners and practice nurses. Pegasus supports general practice teams with ‘back office’ functions and helps them navigate the complex health funding environment.
