Identified issues with Flu and Tdap vaccine top up payments

Last Updated: 20 October 2025

Via Health NZ – National Primary Care Team

Health NZ has asked us to share the following update regarding flu and Tdap top up payments:

We have identified some issues with a Health NZ payment made on the 24 September 25 related to the Flu and Tdap top-up payment. These issues are:

  • We paid GP practices directly when we should have paid the funding via PHOs
  • We have identified that we have incorrectly paid vaccination top-ups where these did not apply.

We apologise for this error. We are still working through the potential overpayment issue and will work to remediate this as quickly as possible.

We will be in touch with further information, and to seek input from PHOs on the appropriate approach to rectifying any identified overpayments made to practices.

Ngā mihi,
The Primary Care team
