On Saturday 10 August the Pegasus Health ‘Reading in Mind’ team joined a mental health and wellbeing showcase with Ōtautahi Creative Spaces at Tūranga.
The Reading in Mind scheme works with Christchurch City Libraries and MHERC to provide a resource to support people experiencing low-to-moderate mental health issues. They do this by providing lists of selected reviewed and/or recommended books, and other resources, on mental health conditions and wellbeing topics online – ‘biblio-therapy’. Selections of books are also provided on these topics for children, young people and parents and caregivers. A link to the library catalogue where the book (and other resource) is held is provided for each book.Reading in Mind also provides health care and community service providers with an additional, non-clinical resource to offer their patients and clients.

A further event at Tūranga is planned on Thursday 3 October 6-7.30pm, hosted by former TVNZ Health Reporter Lorelei Mason leading a panel discussion with Dame Sue Bagshaw together with authors of books featured on Reading in Mind and mental health professionals. This is a free event, where refreshments will be provided, so mark your diaries now!
