Last night 24 Hour Surgery declared that they had breached capacity and via social media and signage on site, redirected non-urgent patients between 9.00pm and 11:45pm.
This was necessary to ensure clinical risk was managed when the surgery was at capacity. Patients who turned up with urgent needs were still clinically assessed and seen.
We informed other providers and Christchurch Emergency Department, in keeping with an agreed system-wide plan.
The surgery resumed normal operations at 11.45 pm.
