The Step Up Programme helps Cantabrians who are on a benefit and have a medical deferral to find and stay in work. It’s a partnership between the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), Canterbury District Health Board and Pegasus Health.
The programme began as a pilot with some Canterbury practices in March 2017. The service is now moving into a trial phase where it will be extended to more general practice teams across Canterbury.
Social Development Minister, Carmel Sepuloni announced the expansion of the programme (which will mean an extra 200 participants over the next year) on Tuesday 12 February.
