Reading in Mind book scheme for mental health and wellbeing

If you have a mental health issue like anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder or worry, reading books about the issue can help you better understand and manage your mental health and wellbeing.

How it works

The Reading in Mind scheme provides recommended books and other resources (e-books, DVDs, CDs) about a wide range of mental health issues. These books and resources have been recommended by mental health professionals and service providers, Christchurch-based mental health organisations and the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.

Health providers and librarians may help you choose books and other resources from the list, or you can choose them from the list yourself. You might want to discuss the books or other resources with your health provider or librarian.

Click through each of the topics below to view the recommended books and other resources (e-books, DVDs, CDs). You can get these books and resources from your local library or from the Mental Health Education and Resource Centre (MHERC). Your family and friends can also use the scheme.
